The Papasan Chair

When we discuss sustainable development for our world, what we eat, and wear will pop out of our minds. Sustainable development techniques support countries in adapting to the problems posed by climate change, therefore helping to safeguard significant natural resources for current and future generations. In 2050, our global population is expected to reach 9 billion. Rattan is one of the natural materials we can use for furniture and home decoration items. Rattan has been more popular in interior design over the last few years. Numerous designs highlight the rattan theme, such as British Colonial through Coastal, Bohemian, Retro, or Scandinavian. This durable yet flexible natural material is no longer just for patio furniture, rattan is taking over as a trendy material for interior home accents.


One of the popular rattan furniture designs is called Papasan. The Papasan chair acquired popularity in the West after American World War II military personnel brought them back from Asia, where they had been used in the Philippines and Japan for decades. The word "Papa" is for father and "san" is from the Japanese honorific suffix. The shape of the Papasan chair is rounded like a bowl that can hold our upper body comfortably.

There are 3 main parts of the Papasan Chair that we have made for years:


Seat

The rattan that we use here is semi-polished which will bring the shiny look from a distance. Natural rattan pole & rattan Kubu. The seat part can be The seat can used for regular round webbing or with certain modifications. The seat height of the Papasan chair is around 35 to 45 cm (13,7 to 17,7 inches) depending on how low we want to sit in that chair.


Cushion

The cushion filling is carded polyester fiber with standard fabric which is polyester. This cushion will add


Base

The base material is the same as the seat part which is a semi-polished natural rattan pole & rattan kubu. The design of the legs follows the shape of the seat part. To prevent the seat from moving, we add 3 to 5 synthetic leather belts between the seat part and the base part. But some people like to sit on it without the belt because it's just the way to enjoy the Papasan Chair.

In a 40 High Cube container, the Papasan Chair can fit 350 to 450 pcs depending on the diameter size of the seat.
